Slow Cooker Meals

Glad Food Freezer & Storage Bags, 2-in-1 Zipper Gallon, 36 Count (Pack of 3)

Dear Mommie's,

I thought I would share a tip with you that has greatly reduced my stress level. It's make ahead freezer meals for the slow cooker or crockpot. The idea behind this is:

1. Shop for the week
2. Prepare the recipes in gallon freezer bags
3. Freeze them
4. Take out a bag from the freezer the night before
5. Thaw  the bag overnight in the refrigerator
6. The next morning empty the contents into the slow cooker to cook all day
7. Eat and Enjoy

For all of the recipes

Place all the ingredients in a gallon freezer bag and freeze. When you are ready to cook, take out one of the gallon bags from the freezer the night before, empty contents of gallon bag into slow cooker and cook on low in slow cooker. Even when my bags weren't all the way thawed, I still put them in the crock pot the next day. The time varies for different slow cooker. In mine, I put it on low at about 6:30 am, got home about 3:30 and it was fine. Then, I just turned it to warm till my husband got home at 5-5:30.

These recipes fed a family of four with leftover. I used boneless skinless thigh because it was on sale and it was just as good.

Here is my menu for one week.

Slow Cooker Spareribs

1-2 lbs of spare ribs
1 1/2 cup of ketchup
1 1/2 T seasoning salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white vinegar

I am very particular about my ribs so I thought I would not like this.  But I loved it, and so did my family.

Orange Chicken

2 cups of carrots
2 cups of bell pepper
1 lb of chicken breast
3 garlic cloves
1 tsp salt
1/2 pepper
8 oz concentrate orange juice

Honey Garlic Chicken

2-4 chicken breast
3 garlic cloves
1/2 soy sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup honey
2 cups carrots (or any veggies you like)

Beef Strognoff

2 lbs beef stew meat
2 cans mushroom soup
1 chopped onion
2 T Worcestershire sauce
1/2 c water
1 c sour cream
2T garlic
1 packer onion soup mix
Noodles or rice to pour over before you serve

Nacho Chicken

2-4 chicken breast
1 can of Rotel
1 package taco seasoning

Spread of tortilla chips and top with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, salsa

Just for Mommies: Mommie Money Jar

Hi Mommies,

I know for me one of the reason why I don't do things for myself is because I don't want to take money from the family budget. I am sure that all of you have done the same thing. We go to the store to get us something. Then we end up in the kids aisle. Or pick up something for ourselves walk around with it in your hand or cart and then put it up without buying it.

Well, my solutions for that is a Mommie's Money Jar. What is a Mommie's Money Jar? Well it is a jar just for you. You or you and your significant other puts a dollar in every night. By the end of the month you will have $30.00 to 60.00 dollars. You then take that money and do something just for you.

I sign up for sites like Groupon and get a massage or a winery deal, or any deal that you would love, for a discount. You can even forward it to your friends and do a girls night. Groupon is a site that you customize for the things that you like to do, and they send you deals to your email. You can even change the city and use it for when you go out of town.

So let's make it a goal to do a Mommie Money Jar and make some time for us. Please leave me in the comments sections, what you did just for you.

Video: Mommie UnBurnout

30 Days to Mommie UnBurnout

First of all I want to thank you for joining me on this 30 Days to Mommie UnBurnout.

UnBurnout, you might say that's not even a word. HEY, we are mommies, we have children, go through childbirth. We can make it a word if we want.

I thought I would just share some goals with you. Please feel free to add your own goals in the comments and I will add them to the list.

Please feel free to start with whichever one you like just as long as you do one a day.

The more conscious we are of making time for us, the more we will do it, without feeling guilty.

1. I think the one we all need to work at is, realizing that we deserve ME TIME.

2. Read a magazine

3. Get nails done

4. Get hair done ( if you don't have time for a full appt, a lot of places will let you wash your hair at home and they will curl and cut it for you. My shop charges 10.00 and it takes 30 minutes.)

5. Call a friend

6. Write in a journal

7. Go to a zumba class ( I did this and loved it)

8. Join a gym

9. Do a 10 minute exercise DVD

10. Go for a walk

11. Stretching exercise

12. Order pizza instead of cooking

13. Rent the kids a movie and spend that time doing something for you

14. Take a bath with candlesand music

15. Go shopping

16. Take a nap

17. Go to bed as soon as you put kids in bed.

18. Polish your nails

19. Put kids to bed then watch a girl's movie

20. Schedule a girls night

21. Get a massage

22. Ask for help.

23. Say no to something you really don't want to do

24. Buy yourself some makeup

25. Get up 15 minutes early enjoy quiet time and a cup of coffee or tea

26. Put aside a dollar a day in a Mommie's Money Jar at the end of 30 days spend it on you.

27. Get grandma to watch the kids and sleep

30. Go to Bath and Body Works even if you don't buy anything

31. Read this blog, commit to the 30 days, invite other mommies to do it with you.

I'm going to start with doing an exercise DVD. When I exercised I felt better. Baby steps count, if you skip a day, no worries. Remember doing it even a little is better then nothing.

Did I Reach my Goals?

A1Supplements.com - i am FIT. i am A1.

I had set several goals for myself. I wanted to make some time for myself. Without feeling guilty. I wanted to lose weight. I felt that this would help me feel better and give me more energy. And I wanted to commit to doing this blog. I felt that if I was dealing with Mommie Burnout, then there were probably others mommies, dealing with the same thing, and with this blog we could help each other.

I did make more time for myself. As a matter of fact I did a girls day. We did lunch and made pottery. Did I feel guilty, a little but not as much as before.

Did I lose weight? Yes I am in the process of losing weight. I down 15 pounds and counting.

Did I commit to this Blog? Yes. My goal is 3 post a week. I have to start somewhere.

And even though it is just little steps here and there, I feel better, because I am putting me first. And I can't take care of everybody else, if I don't take care of me.

And most importantly. I DESERVE IT AND SO DO YOU!

Just for Mommies: Mommy Burnout

Mommy Burnout

Do you believe that this exist?

Do you do everything for everyone else and nothing just for you?

Do people just expect you to take care of them?

Do people ever ask if you need help?

Do you work? Take care of the kids, house, doctors appointment, homework, recreation for the family?

Have you traded baths for showers because you don't feel that you have the time to take a bath anymore?

Do you get tired just thinking about your today list?

Do sometimes you just feel like crying, because you are so tired and emotionally drained?

Do you feel as though you have nothing more to give emotionally, physically and mentally? That if one more person ask you to do one more thing, you will go crazy?

If you have answered yes to these questions, you are probably experiencing Mommy Burnout?

I am not a doctor. I have no expertise in this area. My only experience comes from being a mother.

I am married. I have two children. I work. I do volunteer work about 20 hours a week plus at the school. I also sit on a committee at the school. I cook, clean carpool to and from school 2 different schools. I help out my mother's as well anyone that needs help.

I'm going to stop right there, you get the idea. Because I'm sure your schedule is just like mine if not worst.

Where did the idea come from that we have to be super women, super moms. Doing it all with no complaints and a smile, O and a homemade batch of cookies in our hands.

Well l am done. I have decided I'm going to take time for me, and not feel guilty about it and I invite you to join me.

First lets think of some ways we can squeeze some me time into every day. Next lets think of some small goals we can set and reach.

I am starting a 30 day challenge to Mommy Unburnout. Is that even a word? Hey we are mommies, we have babies, we will make it a word.

So join me on my 30 Days to Mommy Unburnout. Invite your friends and let's do something Just for Mommies.
